The Owl and the Pussycat - XML blogger template

I adore this dingbat font (ding delights) and wanted to make a template that was quite cute and not too serious, so I decided on this one - almost forgetting that the owl and the pussy-cat were in a "pea green boat"! Whoops. Luckily I remembered in time and their boat colour was salvaged! I don't know if the cat in the story was ginger, but my favourite kind of kitten is a ginger one!

This is a XML version of this "classic" template - you may notice that the newer version is a little wider (this is a good thing) and a few minor changes. I have also enabled the background colour (grey by default) to be changeable. So now you can have whatever colour you want, very easily!

ALSO - regarding the HEADER IMAGE:
NO, your blog title/description will NOT show up. This is because I have switched that option "off" so they will not display.

"WHY did you make this design like this?"
Two reasons really - one: you can edit this header image if you want - remove the "Open All Night, Open All Day" text and put your own thing in (you can use any graphics editor to put your own text onto this banner and there are waaaay more font choices than the silly old internet can handle. DaFont: droolworthy!) and two: I just thought it would be more interesting - and things are definitely better when they're more interesting ;-)

"I don't want to edit my own header image! Can you please let me know how to make my title & description come through from Blogger?"
No. There is no way that your blog title and description is going to come through (and actually "fit" in the correct bit), so bad luck.

"What graphics program can I use to edit this image?"
I have Photoshop CS, but you can use any graphics program that allows you to open/edit a JPEG or GIF - which should be pretty much any graphics program.

"Ok, I made my own banner, now what?"
Now you'll have to upload it to some hosting on the internet. I host my files on photobucket.com (a free image hosting service) but there are more options out there.
Upload the file to the internet, then find the URL of the image.

Next, go to the "Layout" >> "Edit HTML" section of your blog.
You will need to replace the original header image - seen on this page - to be your own.

Scroll down until you find the following image path:
http://i200.photobucket.com/albums/aa231/free_blogger/HeaderOpen.gif

hint: it's under this bit
/* ---( header and site name )--- */

.....and replace with the image path of your new title. Viola!

As far as I am aware, the header image is in the public domain. I got it in Japan, hence the sushi I suppose. Clip art in Japan is greater than any clip art you could ever imagine.

Please note that I have made my own header image and installed it under LAYOUT > PAGE ELEMENTS. You can do this too - as long as the header image has a background colour of white (to be seamless!) and is 720 pixels wide. Height isn't as important as width, so it doesn't matter how high. This design will come with a plain text header by default.

Make sure that you select the following if you want to replace your header with an image:

This is what I did (thinking it would be easier than replacing the image path in the code as I have been instructing in my recent designs - the jury's out - I think I prefer the other way as it allows you to be more precise and specific).

QUESTIONS & ANSWERS:

"So, how is this different from your other designs?"
It's not, really. I have just included the "blank" header image so you may edit it to include your blog title/description or any images you want. You don't have to edit any other images or change where they are hosted... just the header. If you do nothing and install it as presented in the zip file, it will look exactly the same as this page with "Blog Title Here" in the header image.

Hi there....

I have a feeling I am going to be inundated with requests but I thought I would open up the gates for what you guys want.

If you like one of my old designs (scroll down this page and look at the classic templates) and REALLY truely want it in XML then please let me know which one it is!

If you think you have a good idea for a design (for XML) let me know! It can be a theme, based on something you like, a colour - anything! I WILL NOT (and never will) slap some pic of a celebrity or manga cartoon on a blogger template.... so don't even ask.

A few things....

this does NOT mean I'm doing custom requests. Please do not assume this means I will make something personalized for you. Do not email me. Please leave a comment here (on this post) with any requests you may have. I can't wait to see!
Of course any templates that come out of this will be free!!
if a certain theme, old layout etc is popular then I will re-make it to the best of my ability!
I can't guarantee to have this done immediately as I'm SUPER SUPER busy at the moment (to say the least) so it may take me some time - but I will be as accommodating as possible.
I'm not an XML star (infact, I know next to nothing) so I can't do too much magic.

So... leave a comment if there's something you want and we'll see what's popular!!

High School Sweeties - Free XML blogger template

Here is a free blogspot design that I've had on the back burner for a few weeks - the design had kind of stalled for lack of inspiration but I love the way it's turned out! Hope you like it too.

PS: the "inner" background green colour is #99CC99 - for those of you who want to use AdSense and have it blend seamlessly into the background. Also, if you want to add a widget in the bottom of the blog, I have adjusted the padding that a 468x60 adsense banner will be aligned in the center (otherwise it would cut into the sidebar bit). This will also work with a photograph or plain text - whatever kind of widgets you're into.

I would not recommend any footer stuff that's wider than 470 pixels (hey, it's the footer anyway, who looks down there?) but as you can see, the adsense fits in well at the base (and sidebar, of course!).

PPS: I will do different colour versions of this soon! Stay tuned!

Old Time Collars - Free Blogger XML template

I think pictures of old fashion can be really amusing, so saying that, here's a design that's quite funky and uses some old pics of collar styles. Won't be everyone's cup of tea, but it's very "me" (meaning you'd be hard-pressed to find a template like this one). Perhaps I should do more "classic-ish" templates, but that's not the way my mind works most of the time.

PS: I have added a widget under the header of the preview site - this makes it appear that there is more white space than there actually is (under the blue header image) if you have no widget. Make sense? No, I didn't think so.

A lot of people said they'd like to see this design for new blogger, so here you are!
I've kept the width and it's true to the original (850px) and I think you'll agree that it looks awesome as a "new blogger" template!

Please note:

No, your own blog title is not going to be visible as I've removed it to make way for the Sylvia Plath quote. Sorry, that's the way I've made it. You're more than welcome to edit the image in photoshop/graphics editor though and erase what's there and put yr own thing in.
BACK UP your widget data!! Installing a new template one may erase the data you have there! (just in case you didn't know that).
If you're installing this over a "classic" or html blogger design then you may have to chose a generic blogger design before uploading this one.

ALSO...... I've been receiving a lot of emails from people asking me to re-vamp my old html versions and make them into XML ones. I will do it! I swear! The easiest way to stay updated is to subscribe to updates by email and get emailed my new designs. The subscribe box is to the in the RIGHT HAND SIDE there! >>>>
